When we wandered off for a day trip into the mountains, we did not imagine we’d end up near Leavenworth, Washington.
But by the time we found the snow and blue sky I had requested, it just seemed so close on the map, and we’d been meaning to get up there for quite some time. (Just to see what it was all about.
Leavenworth is a Bavarian themed town in the middle of the Cascade Mountains, a couple of hours northeast of Seattle.
Have you ever been to Solvang, California? It reminded me of that. Except, instead of Danish, the town is German themed.
We didn’t have much time to explore since, the town was busily bustling with a sledding festival of some sort and we hadn’t really planned on stopping in the first place.
Time (daylight) was getting short and we still had a long drive home in front of us.
So while Husband stood in line for a couple of handcrafted German sausages, I took a short walk to see (and snap a few pictures of) the town.
I really appreciated the family atmosphere and the cheerfulness throughout the town (despite the fact that it was gloomy and freezing cold).
After two delicious sausages we did get a little exploring in.
We wandered through a few shops and took a short (icy) walk …… and vowed to come back soon!
It’s a darling town. I look forward to heading back at some point when we have a little more time to enjoy it.
Ooo! I’ll bet it’s pretty in the fall …
Happy Thursday, friends! See ya back here tomorrow for Photo Friday!
Always,
Aja Lynn
