This past week here in Seattle, we’ve been pretty socked in. So, Husband and I took advantage of our Saturday and headed up a road we’d never taken; one of our favorite things to do.
We headed northeast out of the city, out of the suburbs, out of the rural foothill communities and into the Cascade Mountains up Highway 2. We were on a quest to find blue sky and snow!
(… and personally, it’s been a very long time since I had the opportunity to exercise my shutter finger, so I was ready to take some pictures!)
I took a lot of photos on our day trip, and it’ll take a minute or two to get through them, but in the meantime I thought I’d share these …
As I said, Husband and I headed up Highway 2 into the Cascade Mountains toward Stevens Pass (which is a road we’ve never taken) in search of blue sky and snow. Just after we found it, Husband took a turn off the main highway and we found ourselves in the darling and picturesque little town of Index, Washington.

I jumped out of the car in the middle of a bridge and took these photos of the stunning scenery.

They don’t do it justice.
You can’t really tell (I tried to help with some editing) but there’s a bald eagle sitting the tree over the train bridge …

Incredible.

The Pacific Northwest was showing off for us this weekend.
Blessed Martin Luther King Jr. & Inauguration Day! Hope your shutter-finger got some exercise this weekend, as well.
Always,
Aja Lynn

You have some great photos! We would love to feature some of your photos on our nature blog. Please email wp.wildlifepic@aol.com or comment back. We would love to hear from you!
I got a new camera from Rich for Christmas. Of course, it wasn’t what he THOUGHT he had ordered so actually too it back to the camera shop in Spokane and exchanged it. As soon as I learn how to use it…..well, maybe, some decent pictures. Train bridge is a train trestle. Walked on several during my childhood, certainly WITHOUT parental permission! Take care, Joanie
That’s great!
Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful!
Why thank you!
